What Is DAL?

DAL stands for Digital Assembly Line and it is a very powerful feature of XF Ultrascale 2013, allowing users to merge different documents, both static and dynamic, into a single output file. It offers the option to add overlays for some or all of the documents and it also supports dynamic documents created at runtime based on the input.

The available input file formats with DAL are FO, XML + XFD, XML + XSL, PDF, DOCX, WordML, EPS and HTML, while the supported output file formats are PDF, PostScript and AFP.

Summary

DAL works with documents called jobs. A DAL job is an XML document specifying how a set of documents is to be merged. This section describes the DAL job XML language in detail.
