Alignment and Indentation

This tab is used for configuring the alignment and indentation of the paragraph.

Format_paragraph

The user can choose one type of alignment from the following: left, justified, right and centered.

Positive or negative values can be assigned to each of the four properties: Start Indent, End Indent, First Line Start Indent, Last Line End Indent.

Note:

The term "indent" refers to the offset of the paragraph or line on the horizontal axis. An illustration is present in the example above.

Breaks and Hyphenation

This tab enables the user to assign properties related to breaks and hyphenation.

breaks_hyphenation

The options Keep with next, Keep with Previous and Keep Together refer to the unity of the text when a page break occurs.

The terms Widows and Orphans specify the number of lines that are separated from the paragraph when a page break occurs.

While the widows signify the lines that are left behind, the orphans represent the lines on the new page. This is why it is preferable that the values of these options to be higher than 1.

If the Use Hyphenation check box is selected, the paragraph will be hyphenated.
