Managing User Groups

Top Previous Topic Next Topic  Print this topic

By creating User Groups, you can control the access rights for multiple users in one location and easily assign a user to these groups.  This allows you to easily re-configure a user's rights if their responsibilities change, create consistency for levels of users, and enhance security across your team to ensure you know which users have access to which Ecrion Omni System Rights.

Usage

You can add or edit User groups by either selecting Add Group Button from the Toolbar or selecting the already present Group Name in the Details Window.  Additionally, you can view how many users are present in your already configured Groups in the Details Window.  The Add/Edit User-Group page will allow you to specify the name of the group and configure all permissions to be applied to users in this group.

Give Your Group a Name

Your first step will be to give your User Group a name.  Simply type your group name in the provided field called Group Name.

Set Access Rights

The access rights you specify in this section will automatically be inherited by the users you add to this group.  You can toggle each access right on or off by selecting the check box accordingly.  As an example, notice in Figure 2 that level two administrators have been given all rights with the exception of Managing Users, User Groups, and Environment Settings.  These rights will only be given to Level 1 administrators.

Custom Rights

You can specify custom rights for any user group.  This includes the ability to allow and deny access to file types, directory names, and entire projects.  Example syntax is provided to assist you with setting this up.  However, let's take, for example, if we wanted to deny this user group access to the Customer Newsletter project.  We would simply use the example syntax to specify FileDeny for that project directory like this:  FileDeny:Customer Newsletter\*

This will deny this user group access to this project file and this project will not be seen in the Projects Module when any user in this group logs into Ecrion Omni System.

When you have completed configuring all options above, select Save to create or save your user group edits.
