Ecrion Omni System provides an out of the box solution for interpreting your DITA input and producing the documents required by your organization. Below, we highlight how this is accomplished in Ecrion Omni System when configuring your workflow for any Ecrion Omni System Project.
Retrieving Your DITA Input
The first step in using Ecrion Omni System to process your DITA input to powerful documents is to set up a task in your workflow to obtain the necessary .dita input files to be used. For more information on configuring your workflow, you can visit the documentation page on how to Manage Tasks.
Just like you would configure Ecrion Omni System to get a specific XML File, you will need to inform Ecrion Omni System to get your DITA input files in the same manner. For this, there are two specific tasks as listed below that you can use to configure the DITA input.
Get DITA Data - Used to get the DITA input file to be used.
GET ZIP DITA Data - Used to access a ZIP file containing multiple .dita input files.
Rendering Your DITA Output
Next, you will need to configure the Render DITA task. In this step you select the DITA Map to be used and output type to be produced. You can learn more about configuring this task using the following link.
Render DITA - Configure the DITA Map and output type to render your desired output.
Supported output types include: PDF, AFP, TXT, Postscript, PowerPoint, DocX, XPS, EclipseHelp, JavaHelp, XHTML, and even custom formats.
In Summary
With the combination of these two tasks in your workflow, Ecrion Omni System will obtain the necessary DITA input files and apply the appropriate DITA Map to produce the output type you desire. Ecrion Omni System will use the DITA Map to reference all necessary topics in the DITA input files, combine, apply the specified transformation template, and produce a quality output you desire.
