Before you get started with using the BI Publisher it is important for you to understand some of the basic terminology used when discussing template design.  You might even be new to the process of using templates and data to produce dynamic and professional documents.  To get the conversation started, we have provided you with the helpful links below so you can begin understanding some common terminology.

Template - This helpful section describes what a template is and how it is used to produce the outputs you will need.

Layout - Layouts define pagination options such as page orientation, size, and side region content.

Page Set - Use page sets to structure your document content for dynamic display such as repeating pages, conditional pages, and more.

Dashboard - Because the BI Publisher can use components designed in the BI Arhcitect, this section helps you learn about what these objects are.

Widget - These are the visual objects that make up a dashboard, and you can insert them into your template if you are using the BI Server.
