If you are interested in inserting Widgets into your Document Template, the first step is to ensure that you have designed a BI Dashboard using Ecrion's BI Architect application. Widgets are powerful objects that can viewed in a BI Dashboard, but can also be included in a document template that is designed for BI Reporting.  For example, if you have already designed a valuable pie chart for your dashboard, you can also include this Widget in your document template without having to recreate it. The steps below highlight the simple process of including previously designed Widgets in your Document Templates.

Assigning a Dashboard

You first need to add a the dashboard of your choice.  To do so, simply select Add new dashboard under the BI Dashboards section.  You will need to navigate to the directory where your dashboard file is located.  The acceptable file extension for this option is ".bid".  Once you have found your dashboard and selected, you will notice that the Dialog Bar will then display the available Widgets in this dashboard.  In the example above, there is one Widget available named "Sales by Territory Chart".

Selecting Your Widget

You simply need to select the Widget you wish to insert from the list of available Widgets.  You will notice that your selection will now have a grey border and also hold a check mark in the top right corner to indicate that this is the selected Widget.  When you are satisfied with your selection, click Insert to add your Widget into your Document Template.
