Overview: This dialog is used for formatting borders, box shadow and background for current paragraph.

Accessing: The Borders and background dialog can be accessed by selecting the button with the same name from the Paragraph group located under the Home tab.

Background

The Background tab from the Borders and Background dialog allows the user to customize several background properties. A paragraph can have a background color, a background image (tiled or not), or both.

When the image is tiled across the background, both the origin (Image Offset X and Image Offset Y) and the Image Repeat Mode can be chosen.

The image repeat mode can take one of the following values:

Repeat     : the image is repeated in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Repeat-X : the image is repeated only horizontally

Repeat-Y : the image is repeated only vertically

No-repeat: the images are not repeated

Any paragraph and inline element can have a shadow underneath it, configurable from the Box Shadow Properties group.

The available properties are the Shadow Color, the Offset on X Axis and the Offset on Y Axis.

Note:

Box shadow is painted with a degree of transparency on the background (alpha blending).

In the picture below, both a color (light blue) and an image repeated vertically are used to compose the background.

IMPORTANT: In order to change the border properties, one or more borders must be selected using the border selection buttons.

If the Same for all checkbox is checked, all borders will be selected and setting the attributes for one will automatically apply them to all borders.

Once the borders are selected, the Border Style, Border Color and Border Width can be modified.

Note:

Borders allow the user to specify the style, weight and color of an element's border.
Padding clears an area around the content (inside the border) of an element. The padding is affected by the background color of the element.
Margins clear an area around an element (outside the border). The margin does not have a background color, and is completely transparent.

Padding

This tab allows the user to set padding properties for the current object.
