The Navigation Bar is an important component of the Properties Dialog.  This is helpful for allowing you to select specific elements to modify Properties accordingly.  When selecting an object in your Document Template and selecting Properties from the Side Menu, you will notice the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the dialog.

The Navigation Bar will display your selected element with a border and a check mark in the top right corner.  In Figure 1 you can notice that the Paragraph element is selected.  The Properties displayed in the dialog are specifically related to this element.  You can simply select the element of your choice to navigate the Properties to be modified.
